For my kill the pen project I did a drawing of a clown on fire because one of my fears is to be burned alive and I drew a clown because they creep me out. I don’t know where my fear of being burned alive comes from I just have always have had a fear of it. My drawing is all from a ballpoint pen. I used a few different techniques to get different looks. For the smoke look I used a q-Tip and smeared ink to get a smeared look. For the fire I used lines that curved with the flame to get a look of it moving and looking like flame. I learned a lot on how to use a ballpoint pen for shading and to use different techniques. The final piece is somewhat how I envisioned it, the concept is how I wanted it to be but I need to finish the shading on the head for it to be complete.

For my unconventional surface drawing I did white shoes that I dyed the background tie dye with sharpie. For the background I picked purple, pink and blue because those are my favorite colors. I had to use alcohol to get all of the colors to blend together. I did the flowers because I thought they would be pretty to have black outlined flowers on the tie dye background.

Figure Drawings
For my scratchboard I did a panda because of a childhood memory that I have of going to the San Diego Zoo and seeing the pandas there. I think I did good on the leaves and the fur. I like that I made the leaves to look like they had a different texture to them from the fur. Some of the challenges that I had were doing the mouth and eyes and also if I made a mistake. If I made mistake I had to find a way to cover it or fix it so it wouldn't be noticeable. I think this was a very fun and hard project that really challenges me.
